Information & ResourcesPlanningThe key to successfully starting a business lies in planning ahead. This includes identifying the area and scope of your business, the market area you plan to serve, analyzing your financial and physical needs, and budgeting for the first year. A well-developed business plan often determines the success or failure of most new businesses. Also, if you plan to obtain loans to finance your startup, one of the first documents any financial lending institution will ask to evaluate will be the business plan. Several area resources are available to assist you in preparing a business plan. Often these resources are provided free of charge, and include developing a business plan, training in management, and continuing education workshops.
