History

Cromer’s Mill Covered Bridge is a testament to Franklin County’s historic preservation. The historic covered bridge, nearly 100 years old, is one of the few remaining in Georgia and is the perfect spot to reflect on the county’s rich history. The Franklin County Courthouse in Carnesville was constructed in 1906 and still serves as the county courthouse today. Both structures are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Royston, hometown of baseball great Ty Cobb, is the home of the Ty Cobb Museum and contains an impressive collection of baseball memorabilia honoring the colorful ball player known as “The Georgia Peach.”
