Work Ready

The Georgia Work Ready initiative was launched in August 2006 by Governor Sonny Perdue and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce to improve the job training and  marketability of  Georgia’s workforce and drive future economic growth for the state.  This initiative assesses the “real world” skills of workers,  provides valuable job    training and helps companies reliably match the right people with the right jobs.

Franklin County is a Work Ready Certified Community

After eighteen months of hard work, the much anticipated announcement was made.  On Tuesday, April 14, 2009, Franklin County became a Work Ready Certified Community.  We were the 8th county in the state to achieve this status and it is definitely something we shout about with pride.  The original goal set to fulfill the requirements was three years.  However, we managed to accomplish it in half the time.
